Organization access in Inventory
It is one of the important and fundamental setup at the time of Implementation. With help of this we can restrict the access at the responsibility level
You can specify which organizations a responsibility can access by mapping responsibilities to organizations. Once this mapping is set up, a user logging into an Oracle Manufacturing product is restricted to the organizations mapped to the responsibility chosen. The Change Organization window is restricted as well.

Attention: Until you assign an organization to a responsibility in this window, all responsibilities have access to all organizations. Once you have restricted any responsibility to an organization, you must then explicitly define the organizations which all responsibilities can access.
- Ref: Oracle User guide
Attention: This feature does not restrict access once the user is in the product. Users with access to functions that cross multiple organizations (such as ATP, Inter-organization Transfers, Item Search, Multi-organization Quantity Report, and so on) can still specify any valid organization when running these functions
System managers determine which responsibilities a user can access when they establish system security. If there are no restrictions entered for an organization, it can be accessed by all responsibilities.
To define access mappings between organizations and responsibilities:
- 1. Navigate to the Organization Access window.
- 2. Enter the organization code for the organization to which you are restricting access.
- 3. Enter the Oracle Applications product containing the responsibility you want to map to the organization entered in the Org field.
- 4. Enter the name of the responsibility you are mapping to the organization entered in the Org field. You must enter an application before entering a responsibility.
- The combination of organization, application, and responsibility determines the access mapping. Each combination must be unique.
- 5. Save your work.
Very helpful to beginners. Many times the problem with user access to certain forms which relate to certain responsibility relates to the absence of defining org access to that responsibility. For example,if user has access to transaction form in inventory for inventory org M1 but cannot access same form in org M2 . This means he or she needs to assign M2 org to that responsibility by going to Organization Access setup form in Inventory module...Setup menu.
